About Us

Kacie and Dustin Jones are the Owners and Founders of Poo Burglars. 

Dustin and Kacie grew up just 12 Miles apart from one another. They did not meet one another until Dustin transferred from Yellow Medicine East to Lakeview in Junior High. When they did meet, it was a very loud "Hi! I'm Kacie!" and a "Okay then." For many years they rode the same bus, but they never generated a strong friendship. 

After both had Graduated from Lakeview, they went on to work, and continuing education. For a couple years they did not talk to one another. While Dustin was off traveling the country through work, he got a text, that led to more exchanges, to eventually hours on the phone. Which if you know Dustin, he is a Pro at the Minnesota Goodbye. Other than those long calls and texts, they never truly connected in person. 

Kacie attended the University of South Dakota. Originally attending for Nursing to then chase Occupational Therapy. Dustin was between Local and OTR Driving. Fate landed a couple days off where for the first time in nearly 4 years. They had the opportunity to meet in person.  They met at the halfway point on a Wednesday at HuHot in Sioux Falls. Four Days later, they where officially dating. What really helps remember the Anniversary date is the fact it is on his Sister's Birthday.  

Fast Forward down the road, after changing her Major, Kacie Graduated from The USD Beacom School of Business. Determined to chase a limitless field of opportunity. In a roll of the dice called life, bad luck fell upon Dustin. Poor health for many years was a constant battle, of which for many in similar situations, it took a toll on the mental health. They pulled through together, and similar to other moments in life, refusal to roll over and give up wasn't in the cards. 

In 2017 they decided to make the move. It came down to Sioux Falls or the Twin Cities Metro. Lack of opportunity in Southwest Minnesota for Kacie's degree, and lack of quality Healthcare for Dustin made a change necessary. They decided on Sioux Falls, and Dustin moved down April of that year. Going back for their Wedding on May 27th, 2017. Kacie then followed in July after finding an opportunity with a local business. A fresh start, in the City that made it all come together. 

That fresh start was what they needed. They Welcomed their son Ryker into the world in 2020. Kacie's career grew to a Senior Associate position within a Company that provides Data and Insights for over 480 Million Organizations Globally. Dustin continued to work in both Sales and Service. Far from the Farm he decided he wanted to pursue an opportunity working for himself. Like many in the world, you just need to take the leap of faith.   

Poo Burglars was born in March of 2022. It wasn't a glorious start by any means. It is hard work as anyone can tell you to start from ZERO. To jump off guaranteed paths of stability to the unknown is exciting, but also risky. Poo Burglars started in a Jeep Renegade. That was quickly sold and the purchase of a 2002 Ford Ranger came next. Which then, was outgrown. Even with its capabilities as a small pickup. Now they have the Ridgeline you see today. Following the gut, and doing what people were asking of us, is really what set us apart and allowed us to grow so quickly.

Side by side in nearly everything they do. Kacie, Dustin and now little Ryker, have embraced the life and love that this industry brings. They've embraced the "This is never going to work out.", the continued education from the School of Hard Knocks, and drive to continue to grow and do better in every day. Just like you, they are chasing their American Dream.
